Team News
Most of their regular players including the T20I skipper Faf du Plessis have been rested for the first two matches. All-rounder Farhaan Behardien will be leading a squad consisting of six uncapped players – Theunis de Bruyn, Jon-Jon Smuts, Andile Phehlukwayo, Mangaliso Mosehle, Lungi Ngidi and Dane Paterson.
Key Players
Farhaan Behardien and David Miller will hold the key with the bat in an inexperienced South African lineup. Behardien had finished as the third-highest run-scorer in this year’s CSA T20 Challenge and we predict him to continue his good form. Seamers Andile Phehlukwayo, Wayne Parnell and spinner Imran Tahir will be the biggest challenge for the Sri Lankan batsmen at the Centurion.
Recent Form
South Africa have played nine T20Is since 2016 of which they have won five and lost four. They have not been in their best of forms in this format, winning only two from their last six matches. The Proteas won their first two T20Is at the SuperSport Park before losing the next three in a row.
South Africa Predicted XI
DA Miller, F Behardien (c), KJ Abbott, AM Phangiso, Imran Tahir, Andile Phehlukwayo, Wayne Parnell, JJ Smuts, Mangaliso Mosehle, Theunis de Bruyn and Reeza Hendricks.
