Bangladesh Premier League is one of the most famous T20 cricket league which is organized every year since 2012. It is a competent T20 cricket tournament which will be held again in this year. It will be the 4th edition of Bangladesh Premier League of which whole schedule is not announced yet but it would seemingly held in November and December, 2016. According to the previous year, total 6 franchise teams participated here where the Dhaka Dynamites won the Bangladesh Premier League Title twice and Comilla Victorians are the defending champions.
But in BPL 2016, total participants will beincreased from 6 to 8. Khulna Titans and Rajshahi Kings has been added as the new teams in Bangladesh Premier League 2016 whereas Sylhet aren’t participating in this tournament.
A total of 301 players took part in the Bangladesh Premier League T20 2016-17 draft which includes 133 local and 168 foreign players but only 85 players were finally selected in the draft. The 2 new franchises, Khulna Titans and Rajshahi Kings were authorized to select 2 players while the existing franchises were allowed to keep only 2 local players from the previous season.
The foreign players who picked by Bangladesh Premier League 2016 teams are Carlos Brathwaite who selected by Dhaka, Darren Sammy selected by Rajshahi while Kumar Sangakkara is with Dhaka Dynamites. The West Indies great batsman Chris Gayle moved from Barisal Bulls to Chittagong Vikings and Shahid Afridi, Nasir Jamshed, Sharjeel Khan and moved to Rangpur Riders.
